Become an Affiliate and Earn Money Promoting My Book
If you want to earn some income on the side, consider becoming an affiliate and earn commissions on every sale of this book that you generate. Earn a nice 50% commission for each sale. If you have your own website or email marketing list, it's really easy to start promoting this book and earning cash.
Step 1: Sign up with Clickbank. My book is sold through the Clickbank payment system, and if you're signed up with them, you'll be able to create special links you can use to earn commssions. Sign up for Clickbank here: Clickbank.
Step 2: Locate my affiliate marketplace page. After you log in, there will be a link at the top that says, "Marketplace." Click it and then enter this into the search box: "Bug Out Bag Book". Make sure you include the quotes. The title of the item you are looking for is "The Bug Out Bag Book: How To Create An Emergency Gear Bag."
Step 3: Create your "hoplink." This is the Clickbank link that contains your Clickbank ID encoded in it. Just select the "Create hoplink" link at the bottom of the item description, and then enter your Clickbank ID in the box when it asks for it. Your Clickbank ID is the login ID you use to log into Clickbank. When you create the hoplink, be sure and save it to a text document, along with a description, so you can retrieve it for later use.
Step 4: Use your affiliate link (the one you created in step 3) and promote the book. Write a blog post about it, tweet about it, create a text link in your site's navigation, and so on. As long as you aren't spamming anyone, you can use email marketing, too. Promote, promote, promote!
The Number 1 Affiliate
Curious about who is the top-earning affiliate? It's me. That's right...I, the site owner and author of The Bug Out Bag Book, sell more copies than all of you affiliates. I would like that to change. I want you to out-perform me. I challenge you to sell more than I do. Find the tools you need to do so on this page. The prize? A fat check from Clickbank.
Promote with Twitter
Do you have a Twitter account with a good following? Tell them about this book. Use your affiliate hoplink to send out tweets to your followers. Don't spam everyone with it...but it won't hurt to tell them about it a couple of times a week. You can use bit.ly or another URL-shortening service to make your link fit in a tweet, and track the clicks, too.
If you don't currently use Twitter, or you have an account with only a few followers, check out:
I used this system to grow my Twitter accounts by quite a bit. Use the Twitter Traffic Machine system to boost your follower counts. Remember, more followers means more potential sales when you mention the book with your affiliate link in a non-spammy way.
Use Email Marketing to Sell Books
If you have an email marketing list from your site, you can use it to promote this book. Here are a few things you should keep in mind:
- DO NOT SPAM. Make sure you use opt-in readers and don't send any unsolicited mailings about my book. If Clickbank catches wind of you doing this, they'll shut down your account and keep any money you've earned that they haven't paid out yet. Be safe and keep earning money by using your own opt-in email list.
- Send to interested people. If your list is focused on something like knitting or cross-stitch, The Bug Out Bag Book might not be a welcome mention to your list. Use your own judgment here, but it's best to send advertisements out to targeted lists. The outdoors, survival, and tactical topics are very responsive, for example.
- Use teaser copy for some mailings, but long, informative articles for others. Some people respond well to short snippets of information before making a purchase, but others need lots of convincing. Mix up your mailings to include short and long copy, and you'll see some good results.
If you don't currently have an email newsletter on your site, I strongly encourage you to do so. As an affiliate or direct marketer, a targeted email list is your most valuable tool. I encourage you to start one if you haven't already. Here is the only service I use for all things related to email newsletters. I recommend no one but these guys.

Graphical Banners
Use the following banners to advertise the book and earn that commission! It's easy.
To upload banners to your own server right click on the banner you would like to use. Select "Save image as". Save the image somewhere on your computer. Then upload the image to your own server. You will then need to use the below HTML on your web page to display the image:
<a href="YOUR CLICKBANK HOPLINK"> <img src="http://www.yourdomainname.com/images/bannerfilename.jpg"> </a>
Replace YOUR CLICKBANK HOPLINK with the Clickbank-generated hoplink you created and saved to a text document and replace the image location with the correct URL on your web server. There are many tutorials online if you get stuck on this part. Just search with Google.
